Diving in the Dominican Republic could be a wonderful experience during your journey as this Caribbean country is one of the most attractive places to dive, due to its countless diving spots and dive centres spread across its shore and amazing sea beds, which are considered as one of the most preferred places to dive by professionals.
It should be pointed out that its waters are ideal to dive, because they are crystal clear, and offer great visibility even in extensive depths, and its average temperatures, between 27 and 29 ºC, allow us to use 3 mm diving suits. Furthermore, their sea beds are full of coral reefs, huge caves, vast underwater valleys, lots of sunken ships and a spectacular marine life.
Don’t worry if you are not a professional, there is a number of diving centres that offer immersion classes for all levels, from professional to the most basic ones; all that you need is a license that will be issued right there. This kind of centres offer a wide variety of options such as cave diving, night diving, snorkeling, etc.
Almost anywhere in the Dominican coast, interesting diving spots could be found, but some areas are more important than others:
- Sosúa: It is the most visited diving area in the Dominican Republic, it is located in the northern coast, and is characterised by its horseshoe-shaped beaches and its crystal clear waters.
