Visit the captivating area of the Samaná peninsula, situated in the north-eastern area of the island. This area is mostly covered by the Samaná mountain range. Its humid tropical climate, with an average year temperature of 25,9ºC, make the beautiful beaches from this area the perfect place to spend a relaxing holiday.
However, it has much more to offer than its beaches. During the months of February and March, humpback whales have been choosing this area since centuries ago to mate. The show they offer is unique, and attracts more than 30000 visitors between Samaná and Sabana de la Mar to board a boat and be first hand witnesses.
You can go on trip to the mountain range or enjoy the city walking along its streets with little and colourful houses full of charming and welcoming people. You can also take a boat to the nearby island of Cayo Levantado with its magnificent beach or enjoy its cuisine, such as “picapollo de platao y yuca fritos” or a great variety of tropical fruits such as papaya, pineapple, coconut, and much more.
Within the city, you can also find some interesting places such as Puente de Samaná, Fuerte de Las Flechas, Casa de Chasseriau, or Caño de Morón.
