The restaurants serve from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., since the Dominican hours for lunch is from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and later from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., always with variable schedule. The bars and discos opened everyday from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., generally.
The most typical goods in the island are, in addition to tobacco and the Dominican rum, the handicraft of auburn, lignum vitae or bamboo; the amber jewelry typical of the island, black coral, red coral, larimar and hematite. There are also very sought the pieces of costume jewelry, such as earrings, medallions, cufflinks, etc.; made with coins of the sunken Spanish galleons in the beaches, which have elevated prices due to the lack of material.
