Walk around the charming town of Las Galeras, located twenty kilometer to the northeast of Samaná, between the capes of Cabrón and Samaná.
Being outside the touristic areas, this town has preserved its unique Dominican style with little houses surrounded by coconut trees. The town is bathed by the sea in a beach with some boats property of the locals. The name of the town is owned to the fact that, during the second half of the 16th century, there used to anchor two galleys send by the King of Spain to curtail illegal trade as pirates used to spend time in the town.
There, you can taste delicious fish dishes cooked in a traditional that can be found in the little restaurants scattered all along the beach and take a refreshing bath in the clear waters of its tropical beaches after strolling through the town.
You can also take a boat to the isolated beaches of Madama or Frontón to spend a nice day diving among the coral reefs.
