Also known as “the donkeys’ park”, Parque José María Cabral Park is named after the general that led the Dominican armies to the victory in the Santomé battle. Its nickname comes from the ancient tradition that farmers had: they tied their donkeys in this park when they came there to sell their products.
A huge statue of José María Cabral, the general who fought for the country’s independence, was erected in this park for the visitor to admire it.
