Its name comes from the 5 plateresque medallions that can be seen on the facade, and where blurred faces that could be depictions of the King Carlos V represented in different ages are displayed.
This building dates from the first half of the 16th century, around 1540, and it is also known as Casa de la Moneda House, since it has been related to the minting of coins mainly because of its location in front of the place where this action took place.
Although it is not a very famous colonial house, since 1972, it hosts the Dominican Numismatic Museum, after having been remodelled while keeping its design and essence.
