© Goku AbreuStroll around and see animals of different kinds and sizes in the National Zoo Park of Santo Domingo, and admire the animal diversity that you can find in the Dominican Republic.
Inaugurated in 1975, this zoo currently has around 82 species of plants as well as exotic and endemic animals. In the zoo, you can find numerous tropical birds and many mammals coming from all over the world, such as the African lion, the grey or green De Brazza’s monkey or the Bengal Tiger.
On the one hand, you can see a great variety of reptiles, among which the Hispaniola boa, the American crocodile and the southern Hicotea (turtle) stand out. On the other hand, you can also see the Dominican endangered mammal solenodonte.
