The Homeland Altar is a modern monument located in the Independent Park, and it contains the remains of the “fathers” of the country. Juan Pablo Duarte, Matías Ramón Mella and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez who have a place in this imposing monument as well as in the heart of Santo Domingo.

The monument was made up in marble and it has three bodies representing the Holy Trinity and La Trinitaria, which was the most important movement of the revolutionary activism of the country. On the inside of the building, three big statues of Duarte, Mella and Sánchez (sculpted in majestic marble by the Italian Arrighini) are located facing the visitors.

The whole monument is a reminder of the Dominican independence, and a marble tombstone covers the sepulchers of the admired politicians.
